Seems to be a theme for these two writers, one lesbian and the other straight. Read in some article that a lot of straight women are just a little bit gay.
Not a fan of screwing around behind your spouse’s back but yes it happens. While it’s not the most pleasant experience to go through and Anne is bitter about the break up of her marriage. Even though it’s taken some time for her to process, she’s also changing.
There’s a piece in the book that I absolutely love and that’s the conversation of when Gerald is explaining to Anne that it’s really all about the pronoun and team switching. Talk about priceless!
Well written with a couple typos in the beginning and some word/sentencing stretching but overall a fun book to read with lots of sex, new commitments, and lots of laughter.

Back Talk edition by Saxon Bennett Layce Gardner Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

This is my first foray with Saxon Bennett, and I practically inhaled this delightful story while sitting on the porch on a sunny Saturday in April. Bennett's quirky characters, the community of odd balls they create, and the well constructed story line brought back pleasant memories of Tom Robbins, an author I haven't read in many years. Bennett does a fine job bringing Anne and Hilton to life, and I imagine many readers will find themselves torn between laughing and sighing as they become catalysts for positive change in each other's lives. If you can be patient with Hilton while she learns to protect herself from Nat, if you have a soft spot for big dogs and teddy bears, and if you can relate to the importance of building a family of friends (fallible though they might be) when your biological family lets you down, then chances are good you'll love this HEA romance.
I enjoyed "Back Talk." The characters we're supposed to like were in fact likable, and even the unlikable characters (such as Natalie) were interesting. The book was fun and kept my interest throughout, with no slow moments. The writing style was good and there were very few typos. The book ends with an HEA that is very fulfilling.

And yet ... I'm just a touch disappointed. If I hadn't known that "Back Talk" was written by Layce Gardner and Saxon Bennett, I would have just thought that it was a perfectly serviceable lesfic romance. It mostly misses the mark because it's not up to the caliber of the other books I've read by them. It lacks the quirky, funny characters and the wonderful situations in their other books.

**This paragraph contains a MINOR SPOILER of an entirely predictable plot event**. The book contains what I thought was a tragic missed opportunity. Anne is a 40-year-old woman who has been straight all her life, has never even considered having sex with a woman before, and as far as we're told, the only exposure she's ever had to lesbian sex is watching a minute or two of an episode of "The L Word." Yet when she finally finds herself in bed with a woman (without getting too graphic here) she appears to know EXACTLY what to do. Ridiculously so. It really missed an opportunity to write a powerful scene in which Anne is nervous, uncertain, and vulnerable, and looks to Hilton to put her at ease, reassure her, and guide her. It could have been a very emotional, satisfying scene, but it wasn't.

It makes me sad to see B. Rabkeb's review "[I] am debating whether to try any other Saxon Bennett [book]." It's too bad this was your first exposure to Gardner and Bennett -- if you don't give them another chance, you'll miss some really enjoyable reads. Try "Crazy Little Thing" or "A Perfect Romance," and I promise you'll be hooked on them. For everyone else It's OK to have this book on your reading list, but if your reading time is limited, try some of Gardner and Bennett's other books first.
Laugh Out Loud while reading, never expected to enjoy so much.
Love a good comedy and this team always delivers. Who doesn't like romance and fun. Great read
Crazy funny ... I kept wake my wife up all night laughing !
I love the circumstances, dialog and of course the humor
This is the story of Hilton, an heiress and computer geek, and Anne, a radio talk host. One is a lesbian and the other straight. Hilton is quirky with strange friends while Anne is pretty much a straight-arrow with a wonderfully quirky sense of humor. As the book progresses, the reader watches as Hilton matures in spite of herself.

Bennett has created some interesting and likable characters, including the secondary characters. Bennett also provides the reader with some laugh-out-loud scenes such as the all-out search for the kidnapped teddy bear. Plus who can forget Shannon, the Great Pyrenese and constant companion to Hilton, who has an extraordinary vocabulary and a fondness for ham bones.

All in all a good read, albeit a little light.
